"We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us"
I'm Annie, born and bred in the beautiful north west of Tasmania. My work is inspired by the landscapes that have shaped my life and the emotions they evoke. I create abstract landscapes using bold blocks of colour and clean, defined edges to capture not just a place, but the feeling of being there.
My artworks are created from my own photos. Rather than recreating every detail, I focus on the essence of a place—the memories, emotions, and connections it holds. For some, my work may stir a longing to return to a favourite destination. For others, it might bring back memories of a special person or a moment in time. When someone tells me a painting made them feel something, I know I've achieved what I set out to do.
Every viewer brings their own experiences to an artwork, and that's what I love most about abstract art. It's open to interpretation, allowing each person to discover something unique within the piece. By leaving space for the imagination, abstract art invites the subconscious to fill in the gaps, encouraging reflection, curiosity, and emotional connection. It offers a freedom that realistic art often cannot—a chance to experience rather than simply observe.
My love of art began at a young age and continued throughout my school years and beyond, where I have explored many different artistic styles. Although my work has evolved over time, abstraction has always remained at its heart.
My business began quite unexpectedly when someone asked to buy one of my paintings. What started as a single sale quickly grew into something much bigger, giving me the confidence to share my work with a wider audience and pursue my passion.
That journey also led me to study Art Therapy where I am a qualified Art Therapy Practitioner. This has deepened my understanding of the powerful connection between creativity, emotion, and wellbeing. Art has the ability to heal, comfort, inspire, and connect us, and I hope to incorporate these learnings into my business in meaningful ways.
Above all, I want my artwork to create a personal connection. Whether it reminds you of a place you've loved, a memory you've cherished, or simply evokes an emotion you can't quite explain, my hope is that every piece is not just seen—but truly felt.
