About Me

My name is Annie. I am a lover of art, all kinds of art, but I adore abstract art - whether that is bold blocks of colour, a collage or an abstract landscape, I'm drawn to the unusual, the textured and colourful. I also do love a good outline.

I like to develop a feeling within my artworks. Everyone’s feelings will be personal to them, however I want the viewer to be able to associate with my art. I would like the viewer to be able to see something that brings back memories of places, people or a time in their life. Art is full of emotions and feelings and I want that to shine in my work.

Art is subjective and everyone will see different things in abstract art, which is one of the things I love about it. It is open to interpretation and there’s always certain elements that appeal to the viewer which will differ from the person next to them.  There is a psychological feeling within abstract art where it frees the mind from constraints and allows the viewer to develop their own feelings.

My art journey started at a young age. I have always loved art, studying many forms of art throughout school. I have worked through a number of different genres of art, but they have always been abstract in some form. Through accidentally starting a business (someone wanted to buy a piece of art I created and the rest is history) it has given me the confidence to show my art to the world and to take it a step further by studying Art Therapy Practitioner.  Having gained my qualification as an Art Therapy Practitioner, I am now offering group sessions from my home studio. Art Therapy is a wonderful way to heal holistically. It is a meditative process and but is also an extremely insightful way to tap into our subconscious.

I am a proud Aboriginal and Irish woman. My great grandmother on my matriarchal side was born on Woiwurrung country and I grew up and still live on Palawa country. My father's side is Irish. Occasionally you may see some Aboriginal art come through in my work. As an Aboriginal artist who has veered into other genres, it is still there are still comes through in glimpses every so often. My ancestors are still there with me and guiding me.
